Fleckenkirk

Our ‘N’ gauge continental layout is mostly diesel hauled stock an a mixture of old steam locomotives. It has two running tracks and a shuttle service on the lower level with two further running tracks linking both the lower level with the upper level via a spiral tunnel buried within the mountainside. There is also a rack & pinion railway which links the Main Station with the Upper Level Station direct.

The Main Line Station has a number of intercontinental passenger and freight services and has been extended and modernised to provide an interchange with the bus station and terminus of the rack railway.  (not currently shown in our pictures 1 and 6 of 10 below).

The second double track which also passes through the station running DMU’s and a mixture of loco hauled and steam specials. This line crosses the river three times as it climbs up behind the town on it’s way to the upper level by way of a number of tunnels, bridges and the high level bridge. The line also passes by an International Army Camp which has a short loop siding for the supply of oil and equipment .

Just as with all layouts, alterations and updates happen throughout its useful life.

The layout was featured in the June 2011 edition of Continental Modeller.
