This ‘OO’ gauge layout is based upon the West Highland Line station and track layout of Mallaig in North West Scotland after British Rail’s implementation of Radio Electronic Tokenless Block (RETB) signalling in the mid 1980s. The operating period is from 1986 to 1989 with BR blue and LLB locos and blue grey coaches. Freight comprising timber,oil and infrastructure traffic.
The model is built to a scale of 1/76 using Peco code 75 ‘OO’ gauge track. DCC control is used for train operation with a conventional switch panel to operate the points and electromagnetic uncouplers.
INFORMATION FOR EXHIBITION MANAGERS
This layout is privately owned and will come under the banner of Falkirk Model Railway Club when requested. Any requests must be confirmed through our club secretary.
The layout is 4.88M (16ft) long x 0.61M (2ft) deep and is operated from the rear.
Minimum overall footprint for layout and working space is 6.10M (20ft) long x 2.44M (8ft) deep inclusive of a space for barriers at the front.
We have our own barriers if required and our layout can be transported in the club’s own trailer or within 2 cars.
Minimum number of operators required is three.
